BioWare has set its eyes on the RTS genre now. Everybody knows that BioWare makes exceptional RPG games. They have made Mass Effect series, which is an extremely amazing experience. Everything about that game just excites me and I am waiting eagerly for Mass Effect 3. BioWare also made Dragon Age. A game that was so phenomenal that critics could not resist praising the game and the developers. Most critics called it , ” RPG of the Decade” and I must agree to that. I was not surprised when they came out with its sequel, Dragon Age II, because I wanted it. I wanted to play that because of the breath-taking experience I had after playing Dragon Age I. Dragon Age II didn’t do as well as I thought it would but I am sure BioWare must have taken its mistakes seriously and will do it right with Dragon Age III.
Another great game that BioWare has come up with,Star Wars : The Old Republic. Its an MMORPG. The game was first announced on October 21, 2008, at an invitation-only press event and released for the Microsoft Windows platform on December 20, 2011 in North America and part of Europe. Star Wars: The Old Republic has received generally positive reviews from critics, with a score of 89 on Metacritic and a 93% on Gamerankings.G4TV gave a review of 5/5 and praised the game for “Top notch music and voice acting” and “hundreds of hours of content.” PC Gamer gave a 93/100, praising the story, voice acting, and the amount of content available. MSNBC awarded Star Wars: The Old Republic as game of the year 2011.
They proved that they could create a great MMORPG and get accolades for that, now they are headed towards the RTS Genre. This is strange, atleast for me because I never thought that the guys who are best at making RPGs are going to make an RTS game and that too of one of my favorite franchises,Command and Conquer. Yes,for all those you who don’t know,BioWare is making an RTS game which is a sequel to the 2003 hit Command and Conquer : Generals. They’re making Command and Conquer : Generals 2. They announced it this year during the Spike VGAs. It is all set for a 2013 release and is going to be for PC only. It’ll be made with Frostbite 2 engine which is simply phenomenal. The engine looked great in BF3 and I am looking forward to experiencing it in an RTS game.
I have no idea why BioWare decided to take on the RTS genre and hope that they aren’t bored with the RPG genre because the make some of the best RPG games out there, I certainly know one thing that it’s going to be a huge hit and a great revival for a franchise like Command and Conquer.
